Laxsol Suspension is used to treat constipation associated with piles, anal fissures, hernias, cardiovascular disorders, endoscopy, bowel clearance before radioscopy, pre/post-operative conditions, and elderly and bedridden patients. Constipation refers to infrequent bowel movements in which the stools are often dry, painful and hard to pass. 

Laxsol Suspension contains Sodium picosulphate, magnesium hydroxide and liquid paraffin. Sodiumpico sulphate works by preventing the absorption of water in the colonic lumen and stimulates the propulsive activity of the colon, thereby promoting the accumulation of water. Magnesium hydroxide works by increasing the osmotic gradient in the gut by drawing the water into the intestine. Thus, it helps bowel evacuation. Liquid paraffin works by lubricating the bowels and softening the stools. Together, Laxsol Suspension helps relieve constipation.

You are advised to take Laxsol Suspension for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, Laxsol Suspension may cause certain common side effects such as diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, pain or cramps. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not take Laxsol Suspension for more than a week as it might cause dependency on Laxsol Suspension for a bowel movement. Talk to your doctor if you notice any sudden changes in bowel habits that persist for over 2 weeks. Consult your doctor before taking Laxsol Suspension if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Laxsol Suspension should not be given to children as safety and effectiveness have not been established.
