Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm belongs to a group of medicines known as nitroimidazole antimicrobials used to treat rosacea. It helps to treat pimples, pustules (spots), and redness associated with this condition. Rosacea is a long-term medical condition that mostly affects the skin of the face, causing redness on the forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose.
Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm contains Metronidazole, which works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It alleviates rosacea lesions due to its anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive activities.
Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm is for external use only. In some cases, Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm may cause dryness, redness, itching, irritation, burning, and stinging sensation. Most of these side effects of Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm eventually resolve over time without the need for medical intervention. Consult your doctor if any side effects worsen or persist.
Do not use Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm if you are allergic to Metronidazole or other ingredients in this formulation. Consult your doctor if you are a pregnant or nursing mother. Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm should be used with caution in patients who have/had history of blood dyscrasia (blood disorder), so let your doctor know if you have any blood disorders. While using Metrogyl 2% Gel 40 gm, do not expose yourself to direct sunlight, solar lamps, or sun lamps.
