About Onabet B Cream

Onabet B Cream is a dermatological medication indicated for the topical treatment of fungal infection of the skin with eczema. Fungal infection is a skin disease in which a fungus attacks the tissue and causes infection. Fungal infections may be contagious (spread from one person to another).

Onabet B Cream is a combination of two drugs, namely: Sertaconazole nitrate (antifungal) and Beclomethasone dipropionate (corticosteroid). Sertaconazole nitrate works by damaging the fungal cell membranes, ultimately killing fungi. On the other hand, Beclomethasone dipropionate works by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. 

Onabet B Cream is only for external use. Some people may experience skin tenderness, mild rash, dry skin, skin bruising, itching, irritation, redness, burning, or stinging sensation at the application site. Most of these side effects of Onabet B Cream do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Onabet B Cream or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Onabet B Cream. Do not apply Onabet B Cream to broken skin or open cuts/wounds. Do not swallow Onabet B Cream. In case of accidental swallowing, please consult a doctor immediately. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as Onabet B Cream catches fire and burns easily.

Treatment of Fungal skin infections

Directions for Use

• Onabet B Cream should be applied twice daily or as advised by your doctor.• Check the label for directions before using this medication. Apply a thin layer of cream to the clean and dry affected area.•Onabet B Cream is for topical use only. If Onabet B Cream accidentally comes into contact with the eyes, eyelids, lips, or mucous membranes, rinse with plenty of lukewarm water immediately. Wash your hands before and after using Onabet B Cream if your hands are not the affected area.

Medicinal Benefits

Onabet B Cream contains Sertaconazole nitrate and Beclomethasone dipropionate used to treat fungal skin infections. Sertaconazole nitrate is an antifungal that works by damaging the fungal cell membranes that are essential for their survival as they prevent the entry of unwanted substances into the cells. Thus, stops the leakage of cell contents and kills fungi. Beclomethasone dipropionate is a corticosteroid that works by acting inside skin cells and inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. When the skin reacts to any allergens, such chemicals are released normally. Together, they clear the fungal infection and provide relief from redness, swelling, and itching of the skin caused due to infections.

What if I have taken an overdose of Onabet B Cream

Though overdose is unlikely due to low systemic absorption, it is advised to avoid exceeding the recommended dose. Consult the doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.

If you are allergic to Onabet B Cream or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid contact of Onabet B Cream with nose, mouth, or eyes as it may cause irritation. Onabet B Cream is used to treat fungal infections of the skin.

Onabet B Cream may be used to treat eczema (cracked, itchy, and red skin). Onabet B Cream contains Beclometasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that reduces itching, swelling, and redness. However, please consult a doctor before using Onabet B Cream if you have eczema.

You are recommended to use Onabet B Cream on the face only if advised by your doctor. Do not use it for more than 5 days on the face as the skin on the face thins easily.

You are recommended to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 30 minutes before using a moisturizer or other products with Onabet B Cream as using them at the same time may reduce the effectiveness of Onabet B Cream. However, please consult a doctor before using other products with Onabet B Cream.

You are recommended to use Onabet B Cream for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. However, if the condition does not improve after 2-4 weeks of treatment with Onabet B Cream, please consult a doctor.

Fungal infection is a contagious skin condition that spreads from one person to another through direct skin to skin contact or by contact with contaminated soil or surfaces and infected animals. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid close direct contact until the infection is clear and avoid sharing things with the infected person as it can also spread the infection.

Onabet B Cream is for external use only. Apply a small amount to the affected area and surrounding skin, ensuring the skin is clean and dry. Avoid contact with the nose, mouth, or eyes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse with water. Wash your hands before and after use to prevent spreading infection.

Onabet B Cream may be safe to use while breastfeeding. You are recommended to consult your doctor, as limited data is available on its effects during breastfeeding.

Store Onabet B Cream below 25°C in a cool and dry place as advised on the label. Do not freeze. Keep it out of reach of children. Onabet B Cream should be disposed, by following local guidelines or asking your pharmacist about the method to properly dispose of any unused medicine.

Onabet B Cream is safe when used in the dose and duration advised by a doctor. Do not use more than the recommended dose.

You are recommended not to stop taking Onabet B Cream without consulting your doctor as stopping it suddenly can cause adverse effects.
