About Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet

Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet is used to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus adjunct to diet and exercise. Type-2 diabetes mellitus is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes or adult-onset diabetes. Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet is not indicated to treat diabetic ketoacidosis or type-1 diabetes mellitus.
 
Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Saxagliptin (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor) and Dapagliflozin (sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors). Saxagliptin enhances glucose-mediated insulin secretion. Thus, it reduces fasting and post-prandial blood sugar concentrations. Dapagliflozin removes excess sugar from the body via urine. Together, Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet helps treat type-2 diabetes mellitus.
 
You are advised to take Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as urinary tract infection, hypoglycaemia, upper respiratory tract infection, and dyslipidaemia. You are advised to consult your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
 
Avoid taking Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. However, inform your doctor before taking this medication if you are on a low-sodium diet, as it may increase the risk of dehydration.• It is recommended to take Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet once daily in the morning, or as advised by your doctor.• Swallow Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet as a whole with a glass of water.• Do not break, chew, or crush it.

What if I have taken an overdose of Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet

Take Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Overdose may cause life-threatening hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Its symptoms include extreme weakness, tremors, confusion, sweating, trouble speaking, fast heart rate, nausea, vomiting, rapid breathing, seizures, and fainting. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
