About Rabee-L Capsule 10'S

Rabee-L Capsule 10'S belongs to a group of combination medication called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus), thereby causing hyperacidity, stomach pain and heartburn.

Rabee-L Capsule 10'S is a combination of two drugs: Levosulpiride (prokinetic agent) and Rabeprazole (proton pump inhibitor). Levosulpiride works by increasing the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Rabeprazole works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for acid production. Together, Rabee-L Capsule 10'S helps in preventing acid reflux, thereby provides relief from acidity and heartburn.

Take Rabee-L Capsule 10'S 1-hour prior food. Swallow Rabee-L Capsule 10'S as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break it. You are advised to take Rabee-L Capsule 10'S for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, constipation, headache, dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, flu-like symptoms. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking Rabee-L Capsule 10'S if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. On long term treatment, Rabee-L Capsule 10'S may cause osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, spine, and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels). Do not take Rabee-L Capsule 10'S if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Rabee-L Capsule 10'S should not be given to children as safety have not been established. Rabee-L Capsule 10'S may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol and Rabee-L Capsule 10'S as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Stomach is usually protected from the acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, acidity, heartburn, and peptic ulcers. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn and acidity. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth and difficulty swallowing.
