Caripill Tablet is a formulation that contains Carica papaya leaf extract. It is mainly used to increase the low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) in dengue. It works by increasing the activity of genes that are involved in forming platelets. Carica papaya extract is also indicated in conditions like dyspepsia, habitual constipation, flatulence, asthma, rheumatic pain, and bleeding piles.

Answer Caripill Tablet may interfere with various antibiotics like penicillin G, ampicillin, amoxiclav, cephalothin, polymyxin B, rifampicin, amikacin, etc. nalidixic acid, gentamycin, chloramphenicol, ofloxacin when co-administered. Hence, it is advised to maintain at least an hour gap between the medication and other antibiotics.
Answer You are recommended to speak to your doctor if you are already on treatment with oral antidiabetics before starting this medication. Studies show that the co-administration of Carica papaya extract with an oral hypoglycaemic medicine may lead to very low blood glucose levels.
