About Gelusil MPS Mint Chewable Tablet 15's

Gelusil MPS Mint Chewable Tablet 15's belongs to a group of medicines called antacids, indicated for the relief of symptoms of hyperacidity (e.g., heartburn, epigastric discomfort) that are often associated with peptic ulcer, gastritis, dyspepsia, peptic esophagitis, and hiatus hernia. It is also used to treat flatulence (gas). The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. Excessed acid production sometimes erodes the mucous layer, leading to complications like acidity and heartburn.

Gelusil MPS Mint Chewable Tablet 15's contains Activated Dimethicone, Magnesium Hydroxide, Dried Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Aluminium Silicate Hydrate. These medications combine to neutralise stomach acid and suppress pepsin, a proteolytic enzyme. Thus it relieves symptoms of hyperacidity and other associated conditions.

Gelusil MPS Mint Chewable Tablet 15's is generally well tolerated. In most cases, it does not cause any side effects. Sometimes, you may experience common side effects such as diarrhoea, constipation, and nausea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Avoid taking Gelusil MPS Mint Chewable Tablet 15's if you are allergic to any ingredients in it. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take this medication unless prescribed by a doctor. Keep your doctor up to date on your medical condition and ongoing medications to rule out any potential adverse effects or interactions. If symptoms worsen or persist or new symptoms appear, stop using this medicine and consult a doctor. Antacids should generally not be administered to young children unless prescribed by a doctor.

Disease/Condition Glossary

The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, excess acid production erodes the mucous layer, which leads to complications like acidity. Due to this, acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, a sour or bitter taste, and difficulty swallowing.
