Shelcal XT Tablet is used to treat and prevent nutritional deficiencies such as calcium deficiency (low calcium levels), osteoporosis (weak bones), osteomalacia (softening of bones due to low calcium), and post-menopausal osteoporosis. A nutritional deficiency occurs when the body fails to absorb or obtain sufficient nutrients from food.
Shelcal XT Tablet contains Calcium, L-methylfolate calcium, Mecobalamin, Pyridoxal-5-phosphate, and vitamin D3. It helps make bones stronger by increasing their density, aids in the proper functioning of the brain and nerves, and promotes the production of red blood cells. Together, Shelcal XT Tablet helps in treating nutritional deficiencies.
Shelcal XT Tablet is likely safe to consume. In some cases, it may cause common side effects like constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness, tiredness, and headache. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, you are advised to talk to a doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Do not take Shelcal XT Tablet if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have hypercalcaemia (high level of calcium in the blood), hypercalciuria (excess calcium in the urine), nephrocalcinosis (excess calcium deposition in the kidneys), nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), hypervitaminosis D (excess vitamin D), sarcoidosis, bowel disease, anaemia, malabsorption, low levels of potassium in blood, kidney or liver problems. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Shelcal XT Tablet should be given to children only if advised by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Shelcal XT Tablet . Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines or herbal products before starting Shelcal XT Tablet .
Tell your physician if you are allergic to Shelcal XT Tablet . It may contain sugar or aspartame. Hence, caution should be taken in diabetes and phenylketonuria (increased levels of an amino acid called phenylalanine). Inform your doctor if you have any history of hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in the body), kidney disease, liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, heart disease, kidney stones, hypervitaminosis D (having too much vitamin D), bowel disease, anaemia, or malabsorption before taking Shelcal XT Tablet .
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their physician before taking Shelcal XT Tablet . Higher doses of Vitamin D than the recommended daily dose should be used in pregnant women only when advised by the doctor. Shelcal XT Tablet is safe to use in children above 2 years of age only at the recommended dose. Your paediatrician will decide the dose of the medicine based on your child's age and body weight.
Store Shelcal XT Tablet at room temperature away from sunlight. Do not chew, crush or break the medicine. Keep the medicine out of reach of children. Do not take more than the recommended dose of medicine, as too much vitamin D intake can lead to hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in the body). It is always important to check for the expiry of the medicine. Discard the medicine if it reaches the expiry date.
