About Vitcofol-HB Capsule
Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Also, Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia during pregnancy and lactation.
Vitcofol-HB Capsule is a combination of elemental iron, folic acid and glycine. Elemental iron and folic acid work by increasing red blood cell (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. Glycine is used to synthesise proteins in the body.
In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, stomach upset, or dark-colored stool. Most of these side effects of Vitcofol-HB Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Vitcofol-HB Capsule or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Vitcofol-HB Capsule . Vitcofol-HB Capsule should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor.

Vitcofol-HB Capsule belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) due to iron deficiency and chronic kidney disease. Also, Vitcofol-HB Capsule is used to treat anaemia during pregnancy and lactation.
Vitcofol-HB Capsule contains Elemental iron, folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) and Glycine. Elemental iron and folic acid work by increasing red blood cells (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBC are produced in the body so that body's each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen. Glycine is an amino acid that synthesizes proteins in the body.
You are not recommended to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule with coffee, tea or dairy products at the same time, as they may reduce the absorption of Vitcofol-HB Capsule . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .
You are not recommended to take Vitcofol-HB Capsule with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Vitcofol-HB Capsule in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule with phenytoin.
Vitcofol-HB Capsule is not recommended for patients with hemochromatosis (excessive iron in the body) as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have any iron overload conditions before taking Vitcofol-HB Capsule .
Iron in Vitcofol-HB Capsule may turn the stools black. It is a common side effect of Vitcofol-HB Capsule and is not harmful.
