About Pepcia-D Capsule 15's

Pepcia-D Capsule 15's belongs to the class of drugs known as Proton pump inhibitors, which reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces. It treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (overproduction of acid due to a pancreatic tumour), duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, and Crohn’s disease-associated ulcers.

Pepcia-D Capsule 15's helps reduce stomach acid by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase, also known as the gastric proton pump), thus preventing the release of stomach acid and relieving symptoms of food pipe lining inflammation (esophagitis), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or heartburn.

Not everyone who is taking Pepcia-D Capsule 15's will get these side effects. Pepcia-D Capsule 15's may have common side effects, such as headache, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, dizziness, and joint pain. These side effects are temporary and may resolve on their own over time. However, if these side effects persist, don't hesitate to contact your doctor.

Take Pepcia-D Capsule 15's as advised. Your physician will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. You should take Pepcia-D Capsule 15's 30 minutes before food. It is recommended not to exceed the recommended dose of Pepcia-D Capsule 15's. Do not chew, crush, or break the medicine.

Inform your physician if you are allergic to Pepcia-D Capsule 15's. Tell your doctor if you have stomach or intestinal cancer, liver problems, are allergic to Pepcia-D Capsule 15's or will have an endoscopy in the future. Prolonged intake of Pepcia-D Capsule 15's may cause a deficiency of Vitamin B12 and low levels of calcium, magnesium and Vitamin D, leading to osteoporosis. Pepcia-D Capsule 15's is not recommended for children below 5 years of age. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How Pepcia-D Capsule 15's Works

Pepcia-D Capsule 15's contains two medicines, namely Rabeprazole and Domperidone. Rabeprazole helps reduce stomach acid by blocking the actions of an enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase or gastric proton pump). This gastric proton pump lies in the cells of the stomach wall. It is responsible for releasing gastric acid secretion and damaging tissues in the food pipe, stomach, and duodenum (uppermost part of the small intestine). On the other hand, Domperidone increases the motility of the upper gastrointestinal tract and blocks the vomiting-inducing centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone-CTZ).

  • It is advised to stop consuming alcohol and smoking, as it can cause serious side effects. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age.
  • Avoid caffeine-containing beverages (coffee, tea), spicy/deep-fried/processed foods, carbonated drinks, and acidic foods like citrus fruits/vegetables (tomatoes).
