I have loose motions. I took Eldoper and initially improved, but the symptoms returned after one day. The current temperature here is 35-38?C, which I am not accustomed to. What should I do?

Loose motions that improve and then return are often due to a mild gut infection or irritation, and hot weather (35-38?C) can worsen dehydration and make symptoms feel more severe. The most important step is to stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of clean water and oral rehydration solution (ORS), and to eat light, easily digestible foods like rice, curd, bananas, and khichdi while avoiding oily, spicy, or outside food. Medicines like Eldoper (loperamide) may give temporary relief but should not be used repeatedly without medical advice, as they do not treat the underlying cause. In many cases, the condition settles within a few days, but if you develop fever, blood in stools, severe weakness, or if loose motions continue beyond 2-3 days, you should consult a doctor for proper evaluation and treatment.

My aunt is an HIV patient and has been experiencing diarrhoea since this morning. I gave her Eldoper Capsule, but it has not helped. Could you please suggest any suitable medicine?

Your aunt should see a doctor as soon as possible, because persistent diarrhoea in an HIV patient may indicate an underlying infection or complication that Eldoper Capsule (Loperamide) cannot treat. Do not give any additional anti-diarrhoeal medicines without medical advice. Ensure she stays hydrated with oral rehydration salts until she is examined.
