About Sorbacid Suspension

The medication Sorbacid Suspension is designed to relieve symptoms of stomach acidity, heartburn, and gas. It is commonly used to treat discomfort caused by acid indigestion, sour stomach, and abdominal bloating. By addressing both acid buildup and trapped gas, it helps restore digestive comfort.

For optimal results, Sorbacid Suspension is typically taken consistently after meals and at bedtime when symptoms are most likely to flare up. You should take this oral medication as directed, usually avoiding the immediate consumption of large amounts of water to prevent diluting its soothing effects. Adopting healthy dietary habits, such as eating smaller portions and avoiding late-night snacks, can significantly improve your treatment outcomes.

While Sorbacid Suspension is generally well-tolerated, some people may experience mild changes in their bowel movements. You should consult your doctor immediately if you notice serious symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or signs of an allergic reaction.

Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as certain minerals can build up in your system. Do not take this if you have severe kidney failure or are experiencing symptoms of appendicitis, such as sudden and severe lower abdominal pain.

This product can interfere with how your body absorbs other suggested medicines, so you should space them out carefully. Avoid drinking alcohol while using this medicine, as alcohol can irritate your stomach lining and make your symptoms worse. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or elderly, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting Sorbacid Suspension .

How Sorbacid Suspension Works

Sorbacid Suspension contains three active medicines that work together to relieve acidity, heartburn, indigestion, and bloating. Aluminium hydroxide is an antacid that helps neutralise excess stomach acid. By reducing the acidity in the stomach, it helps relieve symptoms such as heartburn, acid indigestion, and stomach discomfort. Magnesium hydroxide is also an antacid that works by neutralising stomach acid. It provides additional acid-neutralising effects and helps soothe irritation in the stomach and oesophagus. When combined with aluminium hydroxide, it helps provide balanced relief while reducing the likelihood of bowel disturbances that may occur when either ingredient is used alone. Dimethicone is an anti-foaming agent that helps break down trapped gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines. This allows the gas to pass more easily, helping relieve bloating, abdominal pressure, discomfort, and excessive burping. Together, these medicines help reduce excess stomach acid, relieve heartburn and indigestion, and provide effective relief from gas-related bloating and discomfort.

FAQs

Sorbacid Suspension belongs to a group of antacid medicines that treat acidity-related stomach discomfort, such as heartburn, indigestion, gastritis (stomach inflammation), and stomach upset.
Sorbacid Suspension is a combination of three drugs: Aluminium hydroxide (antacid), magnesium hydroxide (antacid) and dimethicone (antiflatulent). Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide works by neutralising excess stomach acid. Dimethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating gas expulsion through flatus or belching (burping). It also prevents accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract.
Do not take Sorbacid Suspension for longer durations unless advised by the doctor. Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better even after taking Sorbacid Suspension for 1-2 weeks.
Avoid lying down immediately after meals to prevent acidity. Raise the head of the bed 10-20cm by putting a pillow so that the head and chest are above the waist. This prevents acid reflux.
To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Sorbacid Suspension for as long as your doctor has advised it for you. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you experience any difficulty while taking Sorbacid Suspension .
Consult your doctor before taking Sorbacid Suspension along with other medicines, as Sorbacid Suspension might affect how other medicines work.
Some ingredients are considered safe in small amounts, but long-term use or high doses can cause mineral imbalances. Talk to your doctor before taking it if you are pregnant.
It is usually best to take this medicine about 20 minutes to an hour after meals and right before bedtime, or whenever you experience symptoms.
The active ingredients can bind to other oral medications in your stomach, which stops your body from absorbing them properly. Spacing them apart prevents this issue.
While the ingredients are balanced to prevent changes in bowel habits, some people may still experience mild constipation or diarrhoea. Talk to your doctor if this becomes severe.
You should not give this medication to infants or young children without first consulting a paediatrician, as their mineral levels are highly sensitive.
Alcohol does not directly interact with the ingredients, but it does irritate the stomach lining and can significantly worsen your acid reflux and heartburn.
If your symptoms do not improve after a few days, or if they get worse, it could be a sign of a more serious condition like GERD or ulcers.
