About Filoca 5 Tablet

Filoca 5 Tablet is used to treat primary biliary cirrhosis. Primary biliary cholangitis, also known as primary biliary cirrhosis, is an autoimmune disease caused by damage of bile ducts in the liver. Biliary cirrhosis causes a build-up of bile in the liver, which leads to liver damage.  
 
Filoca 5 Tablet contains ‘Obeticholic acid’, which helps improve liver function by reducing the production and build-up of bile in the liver, increases the removal of bile from the liver, and reduces inflammation, thereby helping treat primary biliary cirrhosis.
 
Take Filoca 5 Tablet as prescribed. In some cases, you may experience common side effects such as stomach pain, tiredness, dizziness, constipation, and palpitations. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
 
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Filoca 5 Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents. Filoca 5 Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. It is unknown if alcohol interacts with Filoca 5 Tablet ; consult your doctor if you have any concerns. • Filoca 5 Tablet can be taken with food to prevent stomach upset.• It is usually taken once daily or as prescribed by your doctor.• Swallow the whole Filoca 5 Tablet with a glass of water.• Do not break, chew, or crush it.

What if I have taken an overdose of Filoca 5 Tablet

Take Filoca 5 Tablet only as prescribed by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark-coloured urine, loss of appetite, pain in the upper right part of the stomach, nausea, vomiting, or swelling in the area around the stomach. If you experience any of these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Warnings

Do not take Filoca 5 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have a complete blockage of the biliary tract (liver, bile ducts, and gall bladder). Inform your doctor if you experience itching that is difficult to tolerate. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Filoca 5 Tablet is not recommended for children or adolescents. Filoca 5 Tablet helps improve liver functioning by reducing the production and build-up of bile in the liver and reduces inflammation.

Do not discontinue Filoca 5 Tablet without consulting your doctor. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Filoca 5 Tablet for as long as prescribed. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you experience any difficulty while taking Filoca 5 Tablet .

Constipation might be a side-effect of Filoca 5 Tablet . Drink lots of fluids and eat fibre-rich food if you experience constipation. Talk to your doctor if you have severe constipation.

Consult your doctor before taking Filoca 5 Tablet along with bile acid-binding resins, as they might lower the effect of Filoca 5 Tablet . If prescribed, maintain a gap of 4-6hours between Filoca 5 Tablet and bile acid-binding resins. Bile acid-binding resins are used to lower blood cholesterol levels.

Filoca 5 Tablet may cause palpitation, a sensation that the heart is racing, pounding, or fluttering. A minor fluctuation should not be a worry; however, if palpitations continue or you begin to feel unwell, speak with your doctor.

Filoca 5 Tablet is used to treat primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), an autoimmune liver disease. Adults with PBC and individuals who haven't responded to other treatments may need to take OCA, but only if advised by their doctor.

You can use Filoca 5 Tablet combined with ursodeoxycholic acid to treat primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), but only if your doctor advises.
