Poviglint Ointment 20 gm is a combination drug containing Metronidazole, Povidone-Iodine and Sucralfate. Povidone iodine works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. Metronidazole inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death, thereby killing the bacteria. Sucralfate helps form a protective barrier over the wound to promote healing. Collectively, Poviglint Ointment 20 gm helps treat cuts, wounds and infections.

Poviglint Ointment 20 gm is for external use only. As with every medicine, Poviglint Ointment 20 gm has common side effects. These include local swelling, itchiness, redness, small blisters, and irritation at the application site. These side effects gradually resolve during the treatment and do not require medical attention.

Brief your medical history to the doctor if you are allergic to iodine or povidone. Let your doctor know if you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), thyroid disease, liver, or kidney problems. Using Poviglint Ointment 20 gm during breastfeeding may increase the iodine levels in breast milk, which can cause hypothyroidism in breastfed infants. Poviglint Ointment 20 gm is effective against bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative, including antibiotic-resistant and antiseptic-resistant strains), fungi, and viruses. Poviglint Ointment 20 gm contains Metronidazole, Povidone-Iodine and Sucralfate. Povidone iodine works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. Do not use Poviglint Ointment 20 gm if you are allergic to povidone-iodine.
