About Sysfol 5mg Tablet

Sysfol 5mg Tablet is used to treat or prevent anemia (lack of blood) caused by a deficiency of folic acid, anemia in pregnancy, anemia due to damaged red blood cells, anemia in kidney dialysis patients and anemia that occurs as a side effect of certain medicines. Sysfol 5mg Tablet may be used in women before and during pregnancy to prevent spina bifida (abnormality of the spine) in babies. Anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry the adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.

The Sysfol 5mg Tablet contains Folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) that increases healthy red blood cell (RBC) production in the body and carries oxygen throughout the body. As a result, an adequate amount of hemoglobin (Hb) is produced in the body so that body's each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.

Take Sysfol 5mg Tablet as recommended by your doctor. You may experience nausea, black stool, constipation, loss of appetite, bloating or flatulence (gas) in some cases. Most of these side effects of Sysfol 5mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Sysfol 5mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Sysfol 5mg Tablet . Sysfol 5mg Tablet should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor. If you have an allergy to any sugars, inform your doctor before taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet as it may contain lactose. If you have a stomach ulcer, vitamin B12 deficiency, any blood disorder, repeated blood transfusions, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), pernicious anemia (anemia due to lack of vitamin B12) or folate-dependent tumor, inform your doctor before taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet .

Sysfol 5mg Tablet is used in treatment of Anemia. The detailed uses of Sysfol 5mg Tablet are as follows:<br/>•Prevention of Neural Tube Defects: Sysfol 5mg Tablet is commonly taken by pregnant women to lower the risk of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. Adequate folic acid intake is essential during pregnancy for proper fetal growth and development.<br/>•Treatment of Megaloblastic Anemia: Sysfol 5mg Tablet is used to address megaloblastic anemia, which occurs due to folate deficiency. Directions for Use

• Take Sysfol 5mg Tablet with or without food as advised by your doctor.• It is advised to take Sysfol 5mg Tablet once daily; however, follow your doctor's recommendation regarding the dosage and duration.• Swallow Sysfol 5mg Tablet as a whole with a glass of water.• Do not chew, crush or break it.

What if I have taken an overdose of Sysfol 5mg Tablet

Take Sysfol 5mg Tablet only as suggested by the physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it might cause an overdose. If you suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Warnings

If you are allergic to Sysfol 5mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet if you have cancer. Sysfol 5mg Tablet should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor. If you are breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before using Sysfol 5mg Tablet . If you have pernicious anaemia (anaemia due to lack of vitamin B12), a tumour or if you are receiving a stent in the heart or undergoing haemodialysis due to kidney failure, inform your doctor before taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet . You are recommended to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 2 hours between taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet and indigestion remedies such as antacids containing magnesium or aluminium and edible clay. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any sugars as Sysfol 5mg Tablet contains lactose.

However, if you experience paleness of skin, diarrhea, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body aches, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the hands and feet, contact a doctor. Although there is a possible interaction between Sysfol 5mg Tablet and Fluorouracil, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience diarrhoea, paleness of skin, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body pains, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling in your hands and feet, contact your doctor.

You are not recommended to take Sysfol 5mg Tablet with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the levels of Sysfol 5mg Tablet in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, if you are supposed to use these medicines together, please consult a doctor so that the dose may be adjusted appropriately to use safely.

Sysfol 5mg Tablet should be used with caution and in doses as advised by a doctor in dialysis patients or end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or kidney failure. However, it is advised to inform your doctor if you are undergoing dialysis before taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet .

Sysfol 5mg Tablet is recommended during pregnancy to maintain correct levels of folic acid and reduce the risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida (abnormality of the spine) in babies, usually caused due to folic acid deficiency. Sysfol 5mg Tablet helps in the development of the brain and spinal cord in the unborn baby. However, please consult a doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy before using Sysfol 5mg Tablet .

You are recommended to consult a doctor before taking Sysfol 5mg Tablet with other vitamins or supplements.

If you miss a dose of Sysfol 5mg Tablet , do not worry. Take it as soon as you remember. But, if it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Though a balanced diet rich in leafy greens, fortified grains and fruits provides folate, some people may need supplements like Sysfol 5mg Tablet to meet their daily requirements.

Sysfol 5mg Tablet may cause mild side effects such as nausea or bloating in some people. However, if these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
