Octamop Lotion is used to treat Psoriasis (scaly, itchy, and red patches on the skin) and vitiligo (discoloured patches in different body areas, including the skin and hair). It contains methoxsalen, which is used alongside ultraviolet-A radiation. It works by reducing the number of cells the skin makes. If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy or nursing mother, please inform your doctor. Your doctor will prescribe only if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Here are the few steps for dealing with itching caused by drug use:
  • Report the itching to your doctor immediately; they may need to change your medication or dosage.
  • Use a cool, damp cloth on the itchy area to help soothe and calm the skin, reducing itching and inflammation.
  • Keep your skin hydrated and healthy with gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers.
  • Try not to scratch, as this can worsen the itching and irritate your skin.
  • If your doctor prescribes, you can take oral medications or apply topical creams or ointments to help relieve itching.
  • Track your itching symptoms and follow your doctor's guidance to adjust your treatment plan if needed. If the itching persists, consult your doctor for further advice.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are receiving concomitant therapy with photosensitizing agents (anthralin/dithranol, coal tar or its derivatives, phenothiazines, thiazides, griseofulvin, nalidixic acid, sulphonamides, salicylanilides, tetracyclines) and certain organic staining dyes (toluidine blue, methylene blue, methyl orange and rose Bengal).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid eating figs, parsley, mustard, parsnips, carrots, limes, and celery while being treated with Octamop Lotion, as these may increase the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight.
