Information for patients
Drug Information Lornoxicam (chlortenoxicam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. It is available in oral and parenteral formulations.
Drug Alert
Alert Do not use lornoxicam in children under the age of 18. According to Nycomed.com, in the event of an overdose, the user will experience more severe forms of the side effects. In the event of a real or suspected overdose, contact your doctor immediately. Never use lornoxicam if you have a history of liver conditions, ulcers or blood coagulation problems.

Drug Special Care Active infections; asthma; allergic disorders; haemorrhagic disorders; hypertension; impaired renal, hepatic, cardiac function.
Drug Drug Interactions Increased lornoxicam blood conc when given concomitantly with cimetidine.Enhanced effects of anticoagulants, sulfonylureas, methotrexate, ciclosporin, digoxin. Decreased effects of diuretics, ACE inhibitors. Potentially Fatal: Increased risk of lithium toxicity.

How to take the Medicine
Consumption Info
Drug quanitty Oral Pain relief Adult: 8-16 mg daily. Max: 24 mg daily. Oral Osteoarthritis Adult: 12 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses, up to 16 mg daily if needed. Oral Rheumatoid arthritis Adult: 12 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses, up to 16 mg daily if needed. Parenteral Pain relief Adult: 8 mg once or twice daily by IM/IV inj. Max: 24 mg daily.
Drug Dose
Excess Drug Consumption Overdose may cause nausea and vomiting, dizziness, ataxia, coma and cramps, liver and kidney damage, coagulation disorders. In the case of a real or suspected overdose, the medication should be withdrawn. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive.

Possible Side Effects
General Information dizziness, headache, stomach pain, upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and indigestion. As an injection, users most commonly report headache, flushing, insomnia and redness and irritation at the injection spot. Though common and less serious than other effects, these side effects are cause for concern if they worsen or occur regularly. In such an event, contact your doctor.
Common Drug Side Effects Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dizziness, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting; headache; haematologic disorders; CNS effects; visual disturbance; tinnitus; nephrotoxicity; fluid retention; photosensitivity; alveolitis; pancreatitis; Stevens-Johnson syndrome; toxic epidermal necrolysis; colitis induction/exacerbation; stomatitis; hypertension, palpitation; insomnia, somnolence.
Rare Drug Side Effects heart palpitations, dyspepsia, increased blood pressure, shivering, unusual sweating, a reduction in white blood cells, disorders of the taste buds, and a reduction of the platelets in the plasma.
