I am 22week pregnant, have constipation ,doctor asked to take duphalac syrup 30ml at night is it safe to take.
Duphalac contains lactulose and is generally considered safe in pregnancy because it works locally in the gut without being absorbed into the bloodstream, and your doctor prescribing 30 ml at night suggests it is an appropriate dose for pregnancy related constipation; however mild bloating or gas can occur, so if you develop worsening abdominal pain, no bowel movement for several days, vomiting, or any unusual symptoms you should contact your doctor, and continue supportive measures like drinking enough water and increasing fibre as guided.
