I have completed my TB treatment, and my test reports are clear, but I still have a mild cough with mucus. Should I continue taking Mucinac 600 twice a day for this, or is another medication required?
A lingering mild cough with mucus is very common as your lungs continue to heal from past inflammation. Mucinac 600 (acetylcysteine) is a mucolytic that helps thin mucus, making it easier to clear. While it is generally safe to continue Mucinac temporarily, you should not take it long-term without supervision. I highly recommend consulting your treating doctor or a pulmonologist. They can listen to your chest and determine if your lungs just need time to heal naturally, or if a different treatment, such as a temporary inhaler, is better suited to resolve this residual cough.
