My grandmother has had stomach aches and loose motions since last night. Can I give her Pan D with Loperamide?
In elderly patients, caution is important. Pan D (Pantoprazole + Domperidone) is generally used for acidity and stomach discomfort, while Loperamide reduces diarrhoea. However, giving them together without medical guidance is not recommended, especially in older adults. Diarrhoea with stomach pain can sometimes indicate an infection or another serious condition, and using Loperamide may worsen it by slowing down the clearance of the infection. The safest step is to consult a doctor promptly, who can assess her condition, advise appropriate treatment, and ensure she stays well hydrated and safe.
