I injured my knee two months ago after I jumped over a fence and landed badly. I did not have it checked and just let it heal on its own. About two weeks after the injury, the pain went away and it seemed to recover. However, now, almost two months later, it suddenly hurts from time to time, especially when I make sudden movements with my knee or while walking. What could be the possible cause of this, and what remedy or medication can I take for it?
A knee injury that improves initially and then starts hurting again after a few weeks may be due to a ligament sprain, meniscus (cartilage) injury, tendon strain, or incomplete healing after the bad landing. Pain during sudden movements or walking can happen when the knee has not healed properly. While resting, ice packs, avoiding strenuous activity, and medicines like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen may provide temporary relief, the main focus should be on consulting an orthopaedic doctor for a proper medical evaluation. A physical examination and sometimes imaging tests, such as an X-ray or MRI, may be needed to identify ligament, cartilage, or joint damage and to prevent long-term knee problems.
