I have been prescribed ACUPAT, Lubi Fresh, and a nighttime eye ointment for an eye allergy. Why do the ACUPAT eye drops cause severe burning and watering when I use them, and is this a normal side effect?

Some burning and watering when using ACUPAT eye drops is a common and generally expected side effect due to their active ingredients.
ACUPAT contains Ketorolac (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and Olopatadine (an antihistamine). Ketorolac can cause irritation like burning sensation and eye discomfort, while Olopatadine works to reduce allergy but sometimes also causes mild irritation. These symptoms usually improve with time as your eyes adjust to the medication.
It’s good practice to report any unusual or severe symptoms to your eye doctor promptly. They can decide if you need an alternative treatment or additional care.
If you want, I can explain more about how each component works or what other side effects to watch for.
