I have loose, watery diarrhoea. What is the treatment for it?
Most cases of loose, watery diarrhoea settle on their own within a few days. Drink plenty of fluids and use oral rehydration salts to prevent dehydration, and stick to light, bland foods. You may use racecadotril or loperamide for short-term relief if needed. Please see a doctor if symptoms last more than 2-3 days, or if you develop fever, blood in your stool, severe abdominal pain, or signs of dehydration.
