A high parathyroid hormone level is usually treated based on the underlying cause, such as overactive parathyroid glands, low calcium, vitamin D deficiency, or kidney disease. Please consult your doctor or an endocrinologist for appropriate treatment, which may include medications to reduce PTH levels (such as Cinacalcet), calcium and vitamin D supplements, or sometimes surgery if the glands are overactive.
