Is it safe for my mother to take Allegra for her severe cold, stuffy nose, bad headaches, trouble sleeping, and extreme tiredness, and could this medicine have caused her to pass out in the bathroom, given her history of thyroid and liver infections, menopause symptoms, and a weak immune system?
While Allegra (fexofenadine) is generally safe, it is unlikely to have caused her to pass out on its own. However, fexofenadine is an antihistamine for allergies and will not effectively treat her cold, stuffy nose, or headache. Because of her complex health history, weak immune system, and the fainting episode, please have her evaluated by a doctor right away before giving her any new medications.
