I have developed very severe dark circles over the past 7-8 months, even though I get adequate sleep (6-8 hours). My parents did not have dark circles earlier, but have developed them recently. What could be causing this, and how can I treat it?
Dark circles can be caused by ageing, allergies, thin skin, increased pigmentation, nutrient deficiencies, or excessive sun exposure, even when sleep is adequate. Using moisturisers, high SPF sunscreen, creams containing vitamin C or retinoids, and maintaining a healthy diet may help. If your dark circles appear suddenly or worsen, please see a doctor to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
