I am suffering from chikungunya. What medicines, diet, and home care measures may help in recovery?

Chikungunya is a viral infection spread by mosquito bites and commonly causes fever, body pain, severe joint pain, weakness, headache, and sometimes rash. There is no specific medicine that completely cures chikungunya, so treatment mainly focuses on relieving symptoms and helping the body recover. Paracetamol is usually recommended for fever and body pain, but avoid taking painkillers like ibuprofen or diclofenac without a doctor's advice, especially in the early stage, because dengue infection may sometimes show similar symptoms. Getting enough rest is very important, as weakness and joint pain can continue for a few weeks in some people. Drink plenty of fluids such as water, coconut water, soups, lemon water, and ORS to prevent dehydration. Eat light, nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, dal, khichdi, curd, eggs, and protein-rich foods to support recovery. Avoid oily, spicy, and junk foods if your digestion feels weak. Gentle stretching and mild movement may help reduce stiffness once the fever settles, but avoid overexertion. Protect yourself from further mosquito bites by using mosquito nets, repellents, and full-sleeved clothing. Most people recover gradually, but if you develop breathing difficulty, severe weakness, confusion, persistent vomiting, dehydration, chest pain, or worsening joint swelling, seek medical care immediately.
