My 26-day-old baby has jaundice, which is visible in his eyes. Is it safe to give him the BCG vaccine at this time?
It is best to consult your paediatrician first for a bilirubin blood test to assess the jaundice. If the jaundice is mild and resolving, and your baby is otherwise healthy, the BCG vaccine can usually be given safely. If the jaundice is severe or your baby is unwell, the vaccination should be postponed until your doctor confirms it is safe to proceed.
