If your tonsillitis has not improved after 5 days of antibiotics, it may indicate a peritonsillar abscess (a collection of pus around the tonsils) or another infection that requires different treatment. You should see your doctor again for an examination. In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids, take paracetamol or ibuprofen for pain or fever, and avoid taking additional antibiotics without medical advice.
