I have a fever, dehydration, and a dry cough. How should I manage these symptoms?

Fever, along with dehydration and a dry cough, is often caused by viral infections such as flu, common cold, or other respiratory infections, and the main focus should be on rest, hydration, and symptom relief. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, such as water, ORS (oral rehydration solution), coconut water, soups, lemon water, or warm herbal drinks, because fever and cough can cause the body to lose fluids and lead to weakness or dizziness. Take enough rest and avoid heavy physical activity until you recover. Warm fluids, steam inhalation, and gargling with warm salt water may help soothe throat irritation and reduce dry cough discomfort. For fever or body pain, medicines like paracetamol can usually help if taken in the correct dose. Eat light and easy-to-digest foods such as khichdi, rice, fruits, toast, curd, or soup, even if your appetite is low. Avoid smoking, cold drinks, and dusty environments because they can worsen coughing. If you develop breathing difficulty, chest pain, very high fever, severe weakness, confusion, low urine output, bluish lips, or if symptoms continue for more than a few days, you should seek medical attention promptly because dehydration or lung infection may need proper treatment. In most mild viral illnesses, proper hydration, rest, and supportive care help the body recover gradually within a few days.
