I am experiencing eye twitching and hemifacial spasm. Is Botox the only effective treatment, or are there other alternatives available?
Eye twitching and Hemifacial Spasm are usually caused by irritation or compression of the facial nerve. Botox Injection is one of the most commonly used and effective treatments because it helps relax the overactive muscles. However, it is not the only option. In some cases, doctors may prescribe medicines such as Clonazepam or Carbamazepine to reduce muscle spasms. If symptoms are severe and persistent, a surgical procedure called Microvascular Decompression may be considered. It is best to consult a neurologist to discuss the most suitable treatment for your condition.
