Hello, doctor. My ears have a huge buildup of wax. Because of that, I am unable to hear clearly, and I believe I have also slightly injured the inside of my ear from cleaning it with a cotton swab. I recently purchased clearwax drops to remove the wax, but it appears that the drops got stuck between them, making it impossible for me to hear. Please advise what I should do.
If you have heavy earwax buildup with reduced hearing and the drops like Clearwax Ear Drops feel stuck, it usually means the wax has absorbed the drops, swelled, and is blocking the ear more, so do not use cotton buds or insert anything into the ear again as this can worsen injury; you can continue the drops for 2?3 days as directed and keep your head tilted to help the wax soften and come out naturally, but since you also suspect a minor injury and your hearing is affected, it is safest to visit an ENT doctor who can remove the wax gently using suction or instruments, and avoid self-cleaning until then.
