Is it safe for my mother to get the Covaxin vaccine while taking Atorfit CV 20mg (a blood thinner), Concor 5mg (for high blood pressure), Istamet 50/500mg (for diabetes), and Clopixol Depot 200mg (for mental health), are there any side effects, and should she temporarily stop taking her blood thinner the day before and after getting the shot?
It is safe and highly recommended for your mother to receive the Covaxin vaccine. Please do not stop her blood thinner, Atorfit CV, before or after the shot, as stopping it can be dangerous for her health. Instead, inform the vaccine provider that she takes a blood thinner; they will simply apply firm pressure to the injection site for a few minutes to prevent bruising. She can safely continue taking bisoprolol (Concor), metformin/sitagliptin (Istamet), and zuclopenthixol (Clopixol Depot). She may experience mild, normal side effects like temporary arm soreness, mild fever, or fatigue, which show her body is successfully building protection.
