For back pain after lifting heavy objects, the cause is usually muscle strain, and paracetamol can help relieve pain, but dicyclomine is an antispasmodic used for stomach cramps and is not helpful for back pain. Buscopan (hyoscine butylbromide) is also an antispasmodic, so it is similar in type to dicyclomine and likewise not useful for muscle-related back pain. For relief, rest, gentle stretching, and a warm compress can help, and if needed, a doctor may advise appropriate pain-relief or muscle relaxant medicines.
