Leg heaviness, stiffness, or decreased mobility may result from persistent postpartum varicose veins, particularly if the veins haven't completely receded. See a vascular surgeon and obtain a venous Doppler test; exercises and compression stockings are frequently helpful.

Frequent swelling above the ankle with normal reports is frequently caused by salt-related fluid retention, prolonged sitting or standing, or venous insufficiency. Compression stockings, leg elevation, and cutting back on salt usually help; if it becomes worse, consult a physician.

Due to inadequate blood return in the leg veins, varicose veins can result in calf pain and edema. Walk, elevate your legs, and use compression stockings. If the pain doesn't go away, see a vascular specialist.
