The severe body pain associated with chikungunya is caused by inflammation of the joints and muscles. You may take paracetamol (acetaminophen) to help reduce fever and body pain. Avoid NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, or aspirin) during the early phase until dengue co-infection is ruled out, as these medicines may increase the risk of bleeding.
