I have been diabetic for the past 15 years and am currently taking insulin, oral medications, and multivitamins. My blood sugar is under control, but I have persistent itching on my legs. A doctor prescribed paraffin liquid, but it has not helped. Could you please suggest a lotion or ointment to relieve my itching?
Since you have long-term diabetes, persistent itching on your legs may be due to dry skin or nerve damage. You may try a more intensive moisturising cream or ointment containing urea, glycerine, or lactic acid, as these help hydrate and soothe dry skin. If the itching persists, please see your doctor to rule out other underlying causes, such as fungal infections or neuropathy.
