The drops you are using contain paracetamol. You must only administer this medication every 4 to 6 hours, up to 4 times a day. Giving it every 3 hours is unsafe. If the fever returns earlier, ibuprofen is a safe alternative (if your child is over 6 months old), given every 6 to 8 hours. You can alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen, but keep a strict written log of the times to avoid dosing errors. Always determine the dose by your child's weight, not age. Keep your child hydrated, and consult your pediatrician if the fever persists for more than 3 days or if they seem unusually unwell.
