I had sudden severe bleeding from my nose and throat. I was given an E-Klot injection around 12 hours earlier and had also taken E-Klot tablets twice (13 hours and 2.5 hours before the bleeding episode). Along with these, I am taking Azifine tablets twice daily and Alercet DC once daily. The bleeding temporarily stopped after washing my head with cold water. A similar episode also occurred yesterday afternoon. What could be causing this repeated bleeding, and what should I do if it happens again at night? Should I take another E-Klot tablet?
Repeated bleeding from the nose and throat should not be ignored, especially when it happens more than once within a short time. Such bleeding can occur due to several reasons, including dryness or injury inside the nose, infection, high blood pressure, allergies, sinus problems, irritation from coughing or sneezing, or sometimes a blood-clotting problem. In some cases, blood from the nose may flow backwards into the throat, making it appear as throat bleeding. Although E-Klot medicine is used to help control bleeding, taking extra doses on your own without medical advice is not recommended because the correct dose depends on the actual cause of the bleeding and your overall health condition. Since the bleeding has recurred even after taking E-Klot injection and tablets, you should contact a doctor for proper examination, especially if the bleeding becomes heavy, frequent, or associated with weakness, dizziness, breathing difficulty, vomiting blood, or black stools. If bleeding starts again at night, stay calm, sit upright, lean slightly forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose continuously for about 10-15 minutes without releasing pressure. Avoid lying flat or tilting the head backwards, as this may cause blood to go into the throat. Applying a cold cloth or ice pack over the nose may also help reduce bleeding. Avoid forceful nose blowing, hot drinks, smoking, or strenuous activity for some time. Continue only the medicines advised by your doctor and do not increase the E-Klot dose yourself unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional. Because the problem has repeated more than once, a proper medical check-up, including blood pressure measurement and possibly blood tests, may be needed to identify the exact cause and prevent further episodes.
