I have had abdominal pain and vomiting since yesterday. I visited the emergency department and was diagnosed with gastritis and given medications including Pantop-D, Meftal-Spas, and Emeset (IV). However, my symptoms are still present. What should I do next?
If you are still having abdominal pain and vomiting after being treated for gastritis, it is important not to ignore it, as symptoms can take some time to settle but should gradually improve. Continue the prescribed medicines like Pantop-D and Meftal-Spas as advised, stay well hydrated with small, frequent sips of fluids, and take light, bland foods while avoiding spicy, oily, or heavy meals. However, if vomiting persists, you are unable to keep fluids down, the pain is severe or worsening, or you develop fever, blood in vomit, black stools, or weakness, you should return to the hospital or consult a doctor immediately, as further evaluation (such as blood tests or scans) may be needed to rule out other causes. If symptoms are mild but not improving after 1-2 days, a follow-up visit is still recommended to reassess and adjust treatment.
