I had a chikungunya infection two months ago and am still experiencing severe joint pain. I am currently taking Etova-P, HCQS 200, Atarax 10, and Defcort 6 mg twice daily, but I am not getting adequate relief. I had previously taken Dolo, Wysolone in tapering doses, and Nuxocia 120. What can be done to better manage my joint pain?
Post-chikungunya joint pain can be very persistent because the virus often causes prolonged inflammation in joint tissues that may last for several months. Since your current medicines are not providing enough relief, it is advisable to consult your doctor or a rheumatologist to review your treatment plan, as dose adjustment or alternative anti-inflammatory or disease-modifying drugs may be needed. Gentle physiotherapy, regular movement, and warm compresses may help reduce stiffness and pain. It is also important to monitor and gradually reduce steroid use under medical supervision to avoid long-term side effects.
