I have had pelvic pain for the past two years, which worsens when I lie down or go to bed. I also have a history of IBS for the last nine years. The pelvic pain is severe enough to disturb my sleep. Please advise me on how I can get relief from this pain.

Pelvic pain lasting for two years should not be ignored, especially if it affects your sleep and daily life. Since you also have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), the pain may sometimes be related to bowel spasms, bloating, constipation, or increased sensitivity of the nerves in the abdomen and pelvic area. However, other causes such as urinary problems, muscle strain, nerve pain, gynaecological conditions in women, or prostate-related issues in men may also lead to long-lasting pelvic pain. Try to identify anything that worsens the pain, such as certain foods, stress, prolonged sitting, or constipation. Eating light meals, drinking enough water, walking regularly, and avoiding spicy or gas-forming foods may help reduce IBS-related discomfort. Using a warm heating pad over the lower abdomen and doing gentle stretching exercises may also provide relief. As the pain is severe enough to disturb your sleep, it is important to consult a doctor for a proper evaluation. You may need tests such as a urine test, an ultrasound scan, or other investigations to identify the exact cause and receive the right treatment.
