I have itching on my feet along with dry, flaky skin on my hands and feet. What could be the cause and how can it be treated?

Itching along with dry, flaky skin on the hands and feet is commonly caused by conditions like a fungal infection (especially on the feet) or simple skin dryness. In many cases, if the itching is more on the feet, especially between the toes, and is associated with peeling or scaling, it may be a fungal infection. On the other hand, if both hands and feet are dry and flaky without much redness, it could be due to dry skin, frequent washing, or irritation from soaps and detergents. To manage this, keep the affected areas clean and dry, avoid tight or sweaty footwear, and use a good moisturiser regularly. If a fungal infection is suspected, an antifungal cream can help, but it is best to confirm with a doctor before starting treatment. Avoid using steroid-based creams without advice, as they can worsen infections. If the problem continues for more than a couple of weeks or spreads, consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
