What ointments or tablets are effective for fungal infections with severe itching? Earlier, I took Fusys 150 mg and also used Flucort-H ointment, but the problem still persists. Please suggest appropriate treatment.
Persistent fungal infection with severe itching, even after using medicines like Fusys 150 mg and Flucort-H ointment, usually means that the infection has either not been treated completely or may have worsened due to inappropriate creams. Many creams such as Flucort-H contain steroids along with antifungal medicines, and while they may temporarily reduce redness and itching, they can also weaken the skin and allow the fungal infection to spread more deeply or return repeatedly. This is a very common reason why fungal infections become chronic and difficult to cure. The best treatment depends on the exact location and severity of the infection. Mild infections are often treated with antifungal creams such as clotrimazole, luliconazole, terbinafine, or sertaconazole, while widespread, recurrent, or long-standing infections may require antifungal tablets prescribed by a dermatologist for several weeks. It is very important not to stop treatment as soon as the itching improves, because the fungus may still remain in the skin. Keep the affected area clean and completely dry, wear loose cotton clothing, avoid sweating for long periods, and do not share towels or clothing with others. Avoid scratching because it can spread the infection further. Also avoid using any steroid-containing creams without medical advice. Since your symptoms are persistent despite previous treatment, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist for proper examination and possibly tests to confirm the type of fungal infection and select the correct medicine. Conditions such as diabetes, excessive sweating, obesity, or low immunity can also contribute to repeated fungal infections, so these may need evaluation if the problem keeps recurring. With proper treatment, patience, and hygiene, most fungal infections can be controlled effectively.
