Severe itching in Scabies is common because the mites irritate the skin. GBHC Lotion (lindane) can be effective when applied at night as advised, but it may sometimes cause side effects such as mild skin irritation, burning, or dryness, especially if used more often than recommended. Because of possible side effects, many doctors now prefer Permethrin 5% Cream as the first-line treatment since it is generally safer and very effective against scabies mites. Whichever treatment you use, it is important to apply it exactly as prescribed, wash clothes and bedding in hot water, and treat close family members if advised to prevent reinfection.
