I have been taking Gabapentin, and for the last 2 days, I have been experiencing eye pain and headache. Could these symptoms be side effects of the medicine, and is there any eye drop or treatment that may help relieve them?

Gabapentin can sometimes cause side effects such as dizziness, blurred vision, eye strain, headache, drowsiness, or difficulty focusing, especially after starting the medicine or changing the dose. However, eye pain is not something that should always be ignored because headaches and eye discomfort can also happen due to migraine, eye pressure problems, dryness, sinus issues, or unrelated eye conditions. Reducing screen exposure, resting the eyes, staying hydrated, and sleeping properly may help if the symptoms are mild and medicine-related. Avoid using random eye drops without knowing the exact cause because certain drops may worsen irritation or hide a more serious eye problem. If the symptoms started soon after beginning Gabapentin or increasing the dose, informing the prescribing doctor would be useful so the medicine can be reviewed safely. An eye examination becomes more important if you notice blurred vision, redness, swelling, vomiting, light sensitivity, severe headache, or worsening pain, as those symptoms may need urgent evaluation rather than simple eye drops alone.
