  5. I have been on Ginette 35 for 3 years for PCOS. My last tablet was on 19 May, I got my period on 23 May, and I was supposed to restart the pack on 27 May but did not. I had unprotected sex (withdrawal method) on 31 May and restarted Ginette on 1 June. Should I take an i-Pill?

Since you did not restart Ginette 35 on the scheduled date, its contraceptive protection may have been reduced. Having unprotected sex on 31 May, even with withdrawal (ejaculation outside the vagina), carries some risk of pregnancy because withdrawal is not completely reliable. Restarting Ginette on 1 June will not protect against intercourse that occurred before restarting the tablets. Therefore, emergency contraception (i-Pill) may be considered if you are still within the recommended time window after unprotected sex. As the need for emergency contraception depends on the exact timing and your individual circumstances, it is advisable to consult a gynaecologist promptly for personalised advice. If your next period is delayed or unusual, take a pregnancy test and seek medical guidance.
