White discharge is quite common in many women and is not always a sign of disease. It can happen because of hormonal changes, ovulation, stress, pregnancy, poor hygiene, fungal infection, or irritation in the vaginal area. A thin white discharge without smell or itching is often normal, but discharge that becomes thick, yellowish, foul-smelling, or associated with itching and burning may suggest an infection.
