I am currently taking Glycomet 1 gm for diabetes. Can I use Zoform 1 gm SR instead of it for sugar control?
Glycomet 1 gm and Zoform 1 gm SR both contain metformin and are commonly used for the control of type 2 diabetes. The main difference is that the sustained-release form releases the medicine more slowly, which may help some people experience less stomach irritation, bloating, acidity, or loose stools than with regular metformin tablets. Whether you can switch between the two depends on your blood sugar control, stomach tolerance, kidney function, meal pattern, and overall health. Some people tolerate sustained-release medicines better, while others may need the same medicine continued if their sugar levels are already stable. Even though both medicines are similar, changing formulations without medical advice is not recommended because the dose timing and body response may differ. Regular meals, daily walking, proper sleep, stress management, and reducing sweets and refined carbohydrates remain important, along with diabetes medicines, for better natural sugar stability. Talk to your doctor before changing the medicine, especially if you have kidney problems, stomach issues, fluctuating sugar levels, or repeated low sugar symptoms during treatment.
