I am experiencing tooth pain and sensitivity while chewing food. I underwent Aortic Valve Replacement surgery 3 years ago. Previously, I was prescribed Gudcef 200, a painkiller, and Omez for similar symptoms. What treatment should I follow now?

Tooth pain and sensitivity while chewing can occur due to tooth decay, gum infection, cracked teeth, sensitivity of the tooth enamel, or infection around the tooth root. Since you have undergone Aortic Valve Replacement surgery, it is especially important not to ignore dental problems because infections in the mouth can sometimes spread into the bloodstream and may affect the heart valve. You should consult a dentist for a proper examination and possibly a dental X-ray to identify the exact cause of the pain. Avoid taking antibiotics like Gudcef 200 on your own without medical advice, as unnecessary antibiotic use may not help and can sometimes lead to resistance or side effects. Depending on the dental problem, treatment may include cleaning, filling, root canal treatment, or management of gum infection. Until you are evaluated, try to avoid very hot, cold, or hard foods that increase sensitivity, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing gently twice daily, and rinse with warm salt water to reduce irritation. Mild pain-relief medicines may help temporarily, but because of your heart surgery history, it is important to inform both your dentist and cardiologist before any dental procedure, as some patients with artificial heart valves may require preventive antibiotics before dental treatment to reduce the risk of infection. Seek prompt medical care if you develop swelling, fever, pus discharge, or severe pain, as these may indicate a spreading infection.
